No barriers, no excuses

Find a triathlon community, change the system.

Europe Triathlon

"No excuses" is privilege talking.

There are invisible barriers preventing people from having equal opportunities, visibility and voice. Today, we're widening that field.

A stronger, fairer triathlon is one where everyone sees a place for themselves.

"Pale, Male and Stale"

From "The State of Diversity in Triathlon", Triathlon Equity Project, 2020

This has been the historical pattern in triathlon for decades. The sport grew within a narrow demographic, shaped by circumstance. As a result, many athletes simply never had the same access, visibility, or support to participate or advance in their careers.

Fair competition means equity

It's easy to say "I did it, so why can't they?" but hard work can only take you so far. Merit works when everyone has the same opportunities, and most don't.

Equity and diversity are about fixing the system, so that individual performance can shine.

FAQ's

Something we haven't covered? Reach out through the ambassador form above and we'll get back to you.

What is No Barriers, No Excuses?

A community-driven movement within triathlon that works to reduce bias, increase access, and create fairer environments for all athletes. We unite volunteers, ambassadors, clubs, coaches and decision-makers to make the sport more inclusive from the ground up.

Is this only for people who experience discrimination?

No. Anyone in or around triathlon is welcome — athletes, coaches, technical officials, federation staff, volunteers and allies. If you want a fairer sport, you belong here.

Why does triathlon need a project like this?

Because access, visibility and support have never been equally distributed in the sport. Naming that pattern is the first step to changing it — this movement exists to widen the field, not to point fingers.

How do I get involved?

Become an ambassador and start or join a group in your area (or remote), or register for our upcoming webinar to hear from people already pushing for change.
